Learn the History of Slovakia

It's actually VERY interesting. Do you know that if it were not for the beautiful Slovak castles, Europe might have fallen to the Mongols? Or the Turks?

My novel follows a Slovak family from the Dark Ages through the great migration to America. They start out as captives of the Avars, who lived in a mighty fortress just south of the Danube called the "Ring". They escape and become subjects of Charlemagne, the Great Moravian Empire, the Magyars and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. They come in contact with Crusaders, Hussites, hoards of Kings and Lords. They fight for most of them, often in defeat. They work hard. They build a castle. They change their religion. They rebel.
